Skincare is super important!
Skin is so important to virtually much everyone. If you have had bad skin, then you know that bad skin can affect your confidence in a very negative way.
Confidence in yourself is extremely important in the way you lead your life and it sucks when that’s messed with ( read more on doubt and confidence here).
Skincare could be such a daunting process to get into. There are sooooo many products out there and they all claim to do something life-changing for you skin.
I have struggled with skincare for many years.
I have suffered from pimples, hyperpigmentation, eczema flair ups, dry patches, blackheads, whiteheads and whatever other skin ailment you can think of.
I have tried 100s, yes 100s, of products and let me tell you… 95% of the time they don’t anything near what they claim to do.
BUT I’m here to let you know that skincare does not have to be hard or confusing. There are many products on the market that can help you achieve clear and smooth skin no matter your skin type and without breaking the bank.
It took me much trial and error, but I have learned a shit ton about skin care (learn more here) and I have finally found some staple skincare items that has helped my skin TREMENDOUSLY
And the best part… they can all be found on Amazon or in your local Target or Walmart!
The 5 Skincare staples are:
- Rose Hip Oil
- Witch Hazel
- Tea Tree Oil
- Indian Healing Clay
Let’s talk about all of them individually (cause they all deserve their own spotlight).
I will link the exact products I use below!
- Rose Hip Seed Oil
This is a new discovery of mines, but it is AMAZING. It moisturizes the skin without being overly oily (which is great if you have dry or combination skin — like me).
It also works wonders on hyperpigmentation! I had eczema scars that would NOT go away but after using rose hip seed oil for a month, the darks spots are practically gone.
2. Witch hazel
Witch Hazel has been all the rave for the past few years and once you started using it, you will totally understand why. Many people use it for acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Whenever you break out or get a pimple, you can just put some of the Witch Hazel on a cotton pad & gently apply it to your face. Be care not to use to much because it is very drying.
You can use it every other night or every 3 nights if your skin is dry. If you are really breaking out, I recommended every night until you skin begins to clear up.
3. Tea Tree Oil
This is another great one if you suffer from acne or get the occasional pimple. 2 nights of using this and whatever pimple you had will be pretty much gone! Like seriously it is amazing.
This is more of an expensive oil, but I swear it’s worth it if you want to splurge on it. But if not, Witch Hazel is just as great and way more affordable.
All you have to do is mix it with an oil (I like coconut oil or olive oil) and use a Q-tip or you hand and apply it to the desired area.
This is also great for razor bumps or bumps from piercings! Just make sure to dilute it with another oil because it is very strong.
4. Indian Healing Clay (Calcium Bentonite Clay)
This is another skincare product that has been talked about a lot for the past few years.
Indian healing clay is said to provide a deep poor cleaning which can clear acne and remove blackheads.
I personally use it to tighten my pores and get rid of blackheads on my chin (yuck).
You can use this with Apple Cider Vinegar, and it will work wonders on your skin!! You can use it with honey, tea tree oil, green tea and many other products I’m sure you have in your kitchen.
It’s not an overnight miracle but it’s definitely a good product to add to your beauty routine.
I know, I know, toothpaste?
Yes, toothpaste. This is such an unutilized skincare product.
This works best on surprise pimples. All you have to do it put a little on a Q-tip and apply it to the pimple. Then just place a small piece of tissue over the toothpaste, so it doesn’t get it all over your stuff, and the next day you can say goodbye to your pimple friend.
Don’t use this for too long because it can irritate the skin.
I also hear it’s great for dark circles BUT I tried it once and my eyes would not stop watering. I looked like I has just had a bag of chopped up onions thrown at my eyes, haha. So, if you try it for the purpose of dark circles, please be careful.
I couldn’t leave this one out!
This is great as extra step in cleansing. I love to use this before my cleanser to get rid of a lot of that yucky stuff on the surface of your skin. It really helps for a deeper cleanse!
That’s it… for now!
